The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) provides information on our research in a variety of formats to reach different audiences. If a new document or research paper is released, you may see it on our website, summarized on our Science Blog, promoted on our social media channels, or explained in a video. Understanding what information was accessed by our users helps us to create better products in the future. This blog highlights the most accessed NIOSH information in 2024. The safety and health topics on these lists are varied and include heat stress, ladder safety, hearing loss, respirators, and mental health in the workplace. Science Blog

In 2024, the NIOSH Science Blog was viewed nearly 787,000 times with 71 new blog posts and averaged 65,600 views per month. There are some historical favorites that remain popular year after year such as proper N95 respirator use, facial hair and respirators, night shift work and cancer, dangers of bathtub refinishing, and respirators used for dust in construction.

NIOSH has over 500,000 followers across 4 platforms. In 2024, we posted nearly 2,000 times on topics such as construction safety, worker well-being and mental health, heat safety, hearing loss prevention, ergonomics, and so much more. We shared updates, links, news, and tips about occupational safety and health.   • NIOSH has announced an opportunity for respirator manufacturers, NIOSH approval holders, and beard band manufacturers to participate, through a collaborative agreement, in a project titled ‘‘Fit Testing of Respirators on Those Wearing Beard Bands.’’ The aim of this project is to determine how well respirators provide protection to workers with facial hair when using a beard band. The NIOSH webpages were viewed over 31,274,200 times in 2024. As part of a CDC-wide effort to modernize and transform digital communication, NIOSH streamlined our web content, updated our navigation, and made other changes to maximize the impact of our information for our audiences. Downloaded Documents

NIOSH publications were downloaded from our website 402,200 times in 2024. With the release of the updated NIOSH List of Hazardous Drugs in Healthcare Settings in mid-December, four of the top five downloaded documents in 2024 were related to hazardous drugs.
