Sally M. Hess, CIC, MPH has more than 25 years’ experience in infection prevention and is board certified in infection control (CBIC-CIC). Her academic background includes a BS in Microbiology and Medical Technology from Colorado State University and a MPH in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Sally is currently Manager of Infection Prevention at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. UVM Medical Center received the 2014 Partnership in Prevention Award from HHS, APIC and SHEA in recognition for successfully reducing and sustaining healthcare-associated infections in multiple areas including CLABSI, dialysis-associated infections, and orthopedic surgical infections. Sally has served as a subject matter expert, and has presented and published both locally and nationally about prevention of infection in the dialysis setting. Sally is also an active APIC member currently serving as Chair of the 2015 Annual Conference Committee.
