As an advocate for excellence in prehospital care and emergency services Rommie L. Duckworth is the Founder and Director of the New England Center for Rescue and Emergency Medicine and the Executive Director of the First Few Moments 501(c)3 emergency services education non-profit and serves on the New England Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee for the American Heart Association as well as the EMS Workgroup for the Northeast Cerebrovascular Consortium.

A career fire captain / paramedic EMS coordinator, Rom is a dedicated emergency responder and award-winning educator with more than twenty-five years of experience working in career and volunteer fire departments, public and private emergency services and hospital healthcare systems.

Rom is a frequent speaker at healthcare and emergency service conferences around the world and is a contributor to research, textbooks and trade publications on topics of emergency services operations and education. A 2015 Sepsis Alliance Sepsis Hero, Rom is currently working with the Alliance to improve the recognition and management of sepsis in pediatric patients among in-hospital and pre-hospital care providers.
