Mr. Hageman is the Executive Secretary of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) and an epidemiologist in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Mr. Hageman joined CDC in 1998 and has been with DHQP, formerly the Hospital Infections Program, since then. Over the years, he has coordinated a variety of activities related to healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance including conducting surveillance, field investigations, and epidemiologic and laboratory studies. In his current role he works with the federal advisory committee HICPAC, federal and state partners, other stakeholders and DHQP staff to develop and implement infection control guidance that will improve patient and healthcare personnel safety by preventing healthcare-associated infections.
