Dr. Hudson Garrett is currently employed as the Vice President, Clinical Affairs for PDI, Inc. and serves as the Industry Liaison for the Board of Directors for the Association for the Healthcare Environment, a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association.
Dr. Garrett currently serves on the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America Pediatric Subcommittee, President, Board of Directors, for the Vascular Access Certification Corporation, Webmaster for Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Professionals In Infection Control and Epidemiology Board of Directors, a National Faculty Member for the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, President, Board of Directors, for the Southeast Chapter of the Infusion Nurses Society, a member of the Clinical Practices Advisory Committee for the Association for Vascular Access, and a past member of the Recommended Practices Advisory Board for the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. In addition, he received a Presidential Citation from the Society of Critical Care Medicine in 2011 in recognition for his advancement of critical care nursing and infection prevention, the 2011 Member of the Year Award for the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and is a three time Nominee for the Herbst Award for Vascular Access from the Association for Vascular Access.
Dr. Garrett also served as both a reviewer and author for the 2012 AHE Practice Guidance for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning, a reviewer for the Association for Vascular Access Peripheral IV Guideline, and a reviewer and author for the 2015 Pediatric Special Interest Group Guideline for pediatric vascular access, and a member of the Journal of the Association for Vascular Access Editorial Review Board. He is currently the Chairperson for the Emerging Infectious Diseases in Vascular Access Task Force for the Association for Vascular Access.
He has published articles in many periodicals including Infection Control Today, Managing Infection Control, Provider, The Assisted Living Journal, McKnight’s Long Term Care, Provider, The Director, and in the American Journal of Long Term Care, and also in several Mosby Saunders medical textbooks. He also serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of Vascular Access, the Journal of Perioperative Nursing, AVA EVAN Newsletter, OSAP Newsletter, The Journal of and the American Journal of Long Term Care.
He is currently an active member of many professional organizations including: Association for the Healthcare Environment, Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Society of Hospital Epidemiology of America, Infectious Disease Society of America, Association for Vascular Access, Infusion Nurses Society, the American Society for Professionals in Patient Safety, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Association for Perioperative Registered Nurses, American Medical Directors Association, American Association of Moderate Sedation Nurses, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
