Dr. Prescott is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Physician and Researcher at the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor VA Hospital.
She conducts research to understand and improve the long-term outcomes of people who survive acute medical illnesses. She is focused on reducing the need for repeated hospitalization after severe sepsis. By leveraging the power of “big data” analytics, Dr. Prescott is working to develop tools that can personalize risk calculations for patients who have recently survived sepsis. This will allow physicians to target the right preventative treatments to each patient, which is crucial for reducing unnecessary hospital stays.
Dr. Prescott graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in molecular biology. She completed medical school and Internal Medicine residency training at The Ohio State University, where she also served as a chief medical resident. She was then recruited to University of Michigan for Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship in 2011, and onto the faculty in 2014. During her Fellowship, Dr. Prescott completed a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Research. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine.
