Gwen Borlaug, CIC, MPH is the Coordinator of the Wisconsin Division of Public Health Healthcare-Associated Infections Prevention Program. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from North Dakota State University and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining DPH, Gwen was a hospital infection control practitioner and worked in both clinical and public health laboratories. Her current duties at DPH include providing direction for activities associated with the HAI Prevention Program and providing consultation to infection preventionists in a variety of healthcare settings. She is the DPH subject matter expert for MRSA, CRE, the OSHA bloodborne pathogens standard, and safe injection practices.
Gwen is an active member of the Badger and Southeastern Wisconsin Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) chapters, is a past president of the Badger Chapter and a past member of the state APIC Conference Planning Committee. She was the 2010 recipient of the Badger Chapter Leadership Award and is a member of the DPH Healthcare Personnel Influenza Vaccination Team that won a 2010 national APIC Heroes of Infection Prevention Award.
