It provides data on health care costs and payers, healthcare resources, health care use, and health status for the nation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New topic summaries <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/hus\/topics\/hypertension.htm\"><strong>Hypertension<\/strong><\/a>: The percentage of adults with high blood pressure (hypertension) remained stable from 2001 to early 2020. A more in-depth picture of hypertension patterns for different demographic groups is available by sex, age, and race and Hispanic origin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/hus\/topics\/rx-drug-use.htm\"><strong>Prescription Drug Use<\/strong><\/a>: The percentage of people taking at least one prescription drug did not change significantly between 2001 and early 2020. However, the percentage of those taking five or more drugs increased from 9.2% to 11.7%. Drug use varies across different age groups.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/hus\/topics\/dentists.htm\"><strong>Dentists<\/strong><\/a>: In 2021, the East South Central and West South Central Census divisions had the fewest active dentists per 100,000 residents. The Middle Atlantic and Pacific divisions had the most.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nhanes\/index.htm\">National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey<\/a> collects information on hypertension and prescription drug use. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ada.org\/resources\/research\/health-policy-institute\">American Dental Association\u2019s Health Policy Institute<\/a> provides information on dentists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New data <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NCHS regularly updates the <em>Health, United States<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/hus\/data-finder.htm\">data finder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can search the latest updated topics and can visualize the data through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/dataquery\/index.htm\">NCHS Data Query System<\/a> or through <a href=\"https:\/\/data.cdc.gov\/browse?category=NCHS&amp;sortBy=last_modified\">data.cdc.gov<\/a>.
