{"id":6012,"date":"2021-08-04T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-04T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nchstats.com\/?p=6012"},"modified":"2021-08-04T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-08-04T15:00:00","slug":"new-report-on-children-and-adolescent-body-measurements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/nchs\/2021\/08\/04\/6012\/","title":{"rendered":"New Report on Children and Adolescent Body Measurements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6016 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/nchs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2022\/11\/nhsr160_cover1.png\" alt=\"NHSR160_Cover1\" width=\"221\" height=\"294\" \/>NCHS releases a new report, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nhsr\/nhsr160-508.pdf\">Mean Body Weight, Height, Waist Circumference, and Body Mass Index Among Children and Adolescents: United States, 1999\u20132018<\/a>&#8221; that presents trends in mean weight, recumbent length, height, waist circumference, and body mass index (BMI) among children and adolescents in the United States from 1999 through 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Findings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No significant trends over time were observed in any of the body measures for children aged 2\u20135 years, except for an increase in mean BMI among girls.<\/li>\n<li>Among girls aged 6\u201311, mean height and waist circumference significantly increased from 1999\u20132000 through 2003\u20132004, and then significantly decreased for height but remained stable for waist circumference through 2017\u20132018.<\/li>\n<li>Among those aged 12\u201315, mean body weight and waist circumference increased over time among boys, and BMI increased among both boys and girls.<\/li>\n<li>Among adolescent boys aged 16\u201319, body weight significantly increased from 1999\u20132000 through 2009\u20132010 and<br \/>\nthen significantly decreased through 2017\u20132018.
