{"id":3036,"date":"2016-01-12T15:45:11","date_gmt":"2016-01-12T18:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nchstats.com\/?p=3036"},"modified":"2016-01-12T15:45:11","modified_gmt":"2016-01-12T18:45:11","slug":"sexual-behavior-sexual-attraction-and-sexual-orientation-among-adults-aged-18-44-in-the-united-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/nchs\/2016\/01\/12\/3036\/","title":{"rendered":"Sexual Behavior, Sexual Attraction, and Sexual Orientation Among Adults Aged 18\u201344 in the United States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An NCHS\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nhsr\/nhsr088.pdf\">report<\/a> provides national estimates of sexual behavior, sexual\u00a0attraction, and sexual orientation among women and men aged 18\u201344 in the United\u00a0States, based on the 2011\u20132013 National Survey of Family Growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Findings<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regarding opposite-sex sexual behavior, 94.2% of women and 92%\u00a0of men aged 18\u201344 had ever had vaginal intercourse.<\/li>\n<li>86.2% of women and 87.4%\u00a0of men had ever had oral sex; and 35.9% of women and 42.3% of men had ever had<br \/>\nanal sex.<\/li>\n<li>Almost three times as many women (17.4%) reported any same-sex contact\u00a0in their lifetime compared with men (6.2%) aged 18\u201344.<\/li>\n<li>Feelings of attraction \u201conly\u00a0to the opposite sex\u201d were more common for men (92.1%) compared with women<br \/>\n(81%) aged 18\u201344. Among those aged 18\u201344, 92.3% of women and 95.1% of men\u00a0said they were \u201cheterosexual or straight\u201d; 1.3% of women and 1.9% of men said\u00a0they were \u201chomosexual, gay, or lesbian\u201d; 5.5% of women and 2.0% of men said they\u00a0were bisexual; and 0.9% of women and 1% of men said \u201cdon\u2019t know\u201d or \u201crefused\u201d\u00a0(i.e., \u201cdid not report\u201d) on sexual orientation.<\/li>\n<li>Sexual attraction and sexual orientation\u00a0correlate closely but not completely with reports of sexual behavior.
