However, there is little to no scientific consensus on what level of mercury in the blood is considered a health hazard (<a title=\"Mercury facts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atsdr.cdc.gov\/toxfaqs\/tf.asp?id=113&amp;tid=24\">ATSDR<\/a>, <a title=\"Fish consumption advisory\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/mercury\/advisories.htm\">EPA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>A group of NCHS researchers &#8211; Samara Joy Nielsen, Brian K Kit, Yutaka Aoki, and Cynthia L Ogden &#8211; used data from the 2007-2010 <a title=\"About NHANES\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nhanes.htm\">National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey<\/a> to describe seafood consumption in US adults and to explore the relationship between seafood consumption and blood mercury. The article, &#8220;<a title=\"AJCN article on mercury and seafood\" href=\"http:\/\/ajcn.nutrition.org\/content\/early\/2014\/02\/12\/ajcn.113.077081.full.pdf+html\">Seafood consumption and blood mercury concentrations in adults over age 20 years, 2007\u20132010<\/a>,&#8221; was posted online in the February 12 edition of the <a title=\"AJCN\" href=\"http:\/\/ajcn.nutrition.org\/\">American Journal of Clinical Nutrition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The authors conclude that most US adults consume seafood (approximately 83%), and that blood mercury concentration is associated with the consumption of tuna, salmon, high-mercury fish, and other seafood.
