Ben Lopman, Ph.D.
Ben Lopman, Ph.D., is an Epidemiologist with the Viral Gastroenteritis Team with the Division of Viral Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Lopman’s work focuses on the epidemiology of enteric viral infections, including norovirus and rotavirus. At CDC, he uses statistical and mathematical approaches to gain a better understanding of the burden of viral gastroenteritis, and how these infections are transmitted. Ultimately, his work aims to develop an evidence-base to for the control of these pathogens, especially in healthcare settings. Dr. Lopman came to CDC after spending 10 years in the UK public health system. He has co-authored over 80 scientific papers.
